Friendly Feleenas

Found in the Glebe, Feleenas is a staple Mexican restaurant for many people in Ottawa, the owners are always quick to give you a warm welcome when you get in and find you a table in a comfy corner somewhere in their large space. You can find all your go-to Mexican favorite from their menu of meals and drinks, with chips and salsa for the table you'll have something to snack on while you wait too. Inside, everything is brightly colored and it looks like no two tables or chairs are the same. Describing Feleenas as a family restaurant is a perfect description, family run and family friendly, its a classic spot where you can always have a nice meal. 

Food and Drinks

Going to Feleenas you can expect the classic food and drink options. The margaritas and piña coladas are great to sip on while you look over the menu, limited to the expected there isn't a wide variety on the menu or any unusual appearances, but you'll likely find what you're looking for. The chips and salsa that you can snack on while you wait are the usual standard of most Mexican restaurants and the food isn't much different either. With large servings, most meals coming with rice and beans on the side, and mid range prices you get what you paid for, plus more for later. The food at Feleenas, while good, is not the exceptional aspect of the visit, the people are the part that keep bringing you back. 

Atmosphere

At Feleenas it's easy to feel like you're at home. The lighting is friendly, the space feels like a dinning room you might find in one of the homes in the surrounding neighborhood, and the owners are always around to make you feel welcomed. Even on the coldest winter day, inside still feels like summer with yellow walls brightening up the room. It's a casual feeling in Feleenas with some people dressed for a night out and others fresh off a day of running errands, all are welcome. In the summer they open up their patio, just off Bank it is a little loud but bring the right people and you won't even notice. Inside or out the warm feeling can be found throughout Feleenas, if you're having a gloomy day, grab a drink and you'll start to feel better in no time.

If you often visit the Glebe, but haven't been to Feleenas you're missing out on a classic Ottawa experience and a great local restaurant. Whether as a first date, a dinner with friends or family or anything else Feleenas can fit the mood, it is really the experience you make it and always an enjoyable visit. The bright interior has made many appearances online, whether the empty dinning room, multicolored chairs or the happy faces of the many visitors, there's no shame in grabbing a quick picture to document your visit. Reservations are always open and even if you call an hour before on a busy night they'll still try and find a place to squeeze you in.
